There are three things virtually all gamers crave – fast processors, powerful graphics cards, and high-quality screens. There are a myriad of other requirements for a killer gaming system of course, but those three items are paramount to good gaming experience; without any one of them in particular, it’s virtually impossible to run bleeding-edge games with the kind of visuals and performance required for a good experience. And having all three is somewhat rare in the mobile space, especially.
The ASUS ROG G701VI Features A 120Hz G-SYNC Compatible Display.
To that end, ASUS has just announced a couple of brand new gaming notebooks that seem to hit all the right notes. Today, the company announced two versions of its Republic of Gamers G701VI gaming notebook, that feature unlocked and factory overclocked Intel Core i7-6820HK series processors and NVIDIA’s current flagship mobile GPU, the GeForce GTX 1080 GPU. The ROG G701VI is also the first gaming notebook to offer a wide-viewing angle 120Hz panel with NVIDIA G-SYNC support. If you’re unfamiliar with G-SYNC, it is an adaptive refresh rate technology that scales the refresh rate of the panel in tune with the output from the GPU, to minimize tearing, stutter, and lag, and maximize the smoothness of animations displayed on-screen.
There are two versions of the ROG G701VI coming down the pipeline, the ROG G701VI-XB72K and ROG G701VI-XB78K. The two machines differ in their memory and storage configurations, but feature the same processor and GPU. The full specifications are as follows:

The ROG G701VI also comes packing up to two 512GB NVMe PCIE SSDs in RAID 0, an anti-ghosting, backlit keyboard with 30-key rollover support, and an array of ports and connectivity options including Thunderbolt 3USB Type-C and USB 3.1 Type-C ports.
With the kind of compute horsepower at the ROG G701VI’s disposal, it is capable of running virtually any PC game available with smooth frame rates and it is particularly well suited to virtual reality applications. The Core i7-6820HK is among Intel’s fastest mobile processors and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 is currently the company’s fastest mobile GPU – by far. In fact, the GeForce GTX 1080 inside the Asus ROG G701VI is almost identical to its similarly-named desktops counterpart in terms of performance.

Pricey, not doubt, but if you’re in the market for an ultra-powerful, portable gaming machine, these two feature all of the latest mobile gaming technologies currently available.
